Scott Winter was appointed Chief Executive Officer, Surface in July 2019. Scott has a broad range of technical, operational and construction experience having worked in both underground and open cut operations across a range of commodities including coal, copper, lead zinc, iron ore and lithium.

Scott has a broad range of technical, operational and construction experience having worked in both underground and open cut operations across a range of commodities including coal, copper, lead zinc, iron ore and lithium. 

Scott Winter’s experience in mine development together with his strong hands on technical and operational background give him a keen ability to understand how to best establish and generate enduring value from green or brownfield assets. Scott’s previous role was Managing Director of a coal company leading the acquisition and development of a greenfield coal mine in Australia. Prior to this role Scott held various operational and leadership positions within the Thiess organisation.

Scott graduated with Honours in Mining Engineering from the University of Queensland in 1993 and completed an Executive MBA at Melbourne University and Kellogg School of Management.

Brent Jenkins

Chief Operating Officer, Africa

Brent Jenkins commenced with Ausdrill in November 2019 as the General Manager – Operational Excellence, with a focus on the African Mining Services (AMS) business unit. Brent is currently acting in the Interim Chief Operating Officer, Africa role for AMS.

Brent Jenkins commenced with Ausdrill in November 2019 as the General Manager – Operational Excellence, with a focus on the African Mining Services (AMS) business unit. Brent is currently acting in the Interim COO role for AMS.

Brent’s previous experience has seen him work for several large owner operator and contract miners, including BHP, HWE Mining, Consolidated Minerals and Macmahon Holdings. Brent has a strong operational background, backed by 25 years in the Australian mining environment. During this time Brent has held various Senior Management roles including MD and COO, and worked in a variety of mineral commodities, including gold, iron ore, nickel and manganese. Brent holds a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business, Diploma of Metalliferous Mining Open Cut and is a Graduate from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Brent currently resides in Australia.

Roy Coates was appointed Chief Operating Officer, Australia in December 2018, having previously held the position of Executive General Manager (Australian Operations) with Ausdrill since July 2015.

Roy Coates was appointed Chief Operating Officer, Australia in December 2018, having previously held the position of Executive General Manager (Australian Operations) with Ausdrill since July 2015.

Roy holds a Bachelor of Mining Engineering degree from the Camborne School of Mines (University of Exeter) and a MBA from Curtin Graduate School of Business.

Roy has over 25 years mining industry experience working in both surface and underground mining operations in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. Roy is also a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and an Associate of the Camborne School of Mines (ACSM).

Greg Lawson was appointed General Manager Assets & Supply Chain, Surface in March 2019.

Greg’s career experience has encompassed all facets of asset management where he was responsible for managing large mining fleets and asset support services for various commodities including iron ore, gold, nickel and lithium. 

Greg holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) degree from the University of Wollongong and has over 20 years experience working predominantly for large Mining Services businesses including Leighton Contractors, HWE Mining and Thiess.

Wiebe holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) degree from the University of Wollongong, and has over 15 years experience in surface and underground mining operations in Australia and Africa.

Wiebe’s experience has included developing mining solutions for various technical and complex assets, including gold, iron ore, copper, coal, diamonds and more.

Bobby is an HR executive with more than 20 years international experience in global manufacturing and mining businesses across Australia and Africa. He has held a number of operational and corporate roles leading globally diverse HR teams with a strong track record of delivering improved business performance through people.

Bobby’s experience includes the development and implementation of HR strategies, organisational coaching, leadership capability and major culture and business transformation programs.

Bobby holds a Bachelor of Technology (Double Major, Business Economics and Human Resources Management) from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, a Bachelor of Commerce Honours (Industrial Relations) from the University of Natal, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and a MBA from the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science.

Renee Harrold was appointed General Manager Finance, Surface in December 2019.

Renee Harrold was appointed General Manager Finance, Surface in December 2019.

Renee has more than 20 years experience in surface and underground mining throughout Australia and Africa.

She has held a number of positions within the Group. She is a CPA qualified Accountant and her strength spans change management in difficult jurisdictions with strong project leadership skills.

Renee has re-joined the Perth office after 18 months setting up the UK office to support the Africa and North America growth strategy.
